You asked me how golf came about....So Elder Gunnell and I were just talking about how we like golfing and then he asked if i wanted to go... so we asked Rubben the guy who got baptized and he let us borrow his clubs... and then Elder Gunnell went and played a quick 9 holes... kinda just a spur of the moment kinda thing.
We are just waiting for the Spanish branch to start... we aren't really too involved in getting it started... the stake president has been working with salt lake for a couple months... and they are going to pull some strong members from the other Spanish ward in Calexico... so there will be people to help run things and keep it running. The stake president said that it might take a lot of missionary support. So I might be giving a talk in Spanish here pretty soon. LOL fun stuff.
The branch should be up in running in 2 weeks. This week is stake conference and they will announce it and then the next week will be the first meeting. Fun stuff.
I should be getting better at speaking Spanish cause we will be working with more Spanish people. Our area is going to get bigger here soon. so we will be able to go find all of the people who are Spanish in the new part that will be added to our area.
My new companion is pretty cool guy... and good at Spanish so its been good.
That's funny that the missionaries were worried about coming in to the shower with all those women. I wouldn't have freaked out... its not like they were going to do anything... we ate dinner with a lady and then realized her husband left when we got there... it happens. It is just a safety thing. They were kinda too worried about it then lol.
I did get my Christmas presents! That was so awesome! I didn't expect to get an IPOD!!!! that was so cool! The car I drive has an auxillary plug so I listen to it in the car too :) It was pretty freaking sweet!... The brick of Mormon was way funny! I laughed really hard when I opened it :) Thank you so much! that was totally worth the wait to open those:)
I am not sure when I am going to get mail again. We have a zone conference this Wednesday cause there is a guy from the 70's and wants to meet with us. He might be from the 50's I am not sure LOL but that should be pretty fun.
That is cool that Judy and Boyd are doing missionary stuff. That will be a good experience. Plus if they still get to be the normal people too that will be fun. The older couple missions sound really fun... cause you have a lot more freedom that you can still go do stuff and talk to your family.
Well it sounds like we are kinda in the same situation... you go to work not knowing what to do... and every day i head out having now idea what i am doing and somehow some stuff works out. So stuff will probably work out for you too. That is cool that you are learning your new job already. Sounds like a lot of work.
Thanks for all of the presents and all that good stuff :) it was a good opening of presents. I love you.

Hey so I went and played golf with Elder Gunnell... it was really fun! we Tied! that doesn't happen very often. But it was an ok golf course. It was kinda small... the holes ran into each other quite a bit... and the grass was pretty dead... but besides that it was good. I like the golf courses in Utah a lot better so far... at least compared to Brawley LOL... I love you

That was awesome getting to talk to you guys! You all seemed really happy so it made my day! You told me about the necklace on the phone and that Marley tried to eat it... so you didn't really cry too much LOL :)
Janel told me all about her new guy she started to like a little... but she didn't want to get into a relationship before the singles cruise.
Even if Donna and Brian move, Marley and Jenna wont really be that far away so they can still play and all that stuff... especially when their favorite uncle gets home and then they will have another person to play with. Our family is really close so i don't think they will have a problem being friends.
Ruben and Monica ( the ones who just got baptized) game me an ornament... so i will be sending it home soon. It was funny cause Monica kinda jumped at me and gave me a hug... it was kinda nice... first hug of the mission. And i thought about it... and it doesn't say that we cant hug in the white hand book... it just says we aren't supposed to flirt... so i think it was safe. They are just really good people!
Elder Law knows my area really good... he was in it for about 8 months before i got there... so its kinda nice... cause Blaine never really got to know the area because I knew it already. He is a really good guy. He played football for Boise State before he came on his mission... and he is going to go to BYU after. He is just a good Idaho LDS guy. Sings a lot though... not that good of a singer. But he is loud. LOL
Yea I am for sure obeying the rules... they aren't hard rules to follow. It is really just the following the commandments... and then a couple others that just keep us safe so its not that hard to keep the rules.
I love you guys!

My thanksgiving was pretty sweet. We went to this persons house who had 13 non members there and then 4 missionaries... that was pretty sweet... they were way fun people! We just hung out really with the teenage guys... they were fun to be with I would hang out with them if they lived by me. At the house the family rented a bounce house and the missionaries were able to go in there and wrestle... that was so much fun! Everyone picked on me though; think it was cause I was the only one who wouldn't take it serious. Everyone else would have turned it into a real fight. It was fun though; good food too. Then we went to another families dinner and that was good food too, but they never had enough to drink so I went home and drank a lot of water. Good time though. We had normal turkey... well the first family had theirs smoked... that was really good too though... normal food.
I love the rockets! They just don't last very long sometimes, except for grandpa has had his for a long time. I still remember when your rocket went up and spun in circles and almost took off some heads.
That is fun that you guys went shopping and did breakfast and stuff. We had to run to Walmart here in Brawley that morning cause we were out of milk. There was hardly anyone there; it isn't as busy here where nobody has money. That was fun to put up the tree and get the decorations out when you guys went out to go shopping. I just put on some awesome music and put up the tree and play with the Lego train. That is a good time of the year.
I was able to watch some of the BYU game the other day. I actually saw them win cause it was on when we were at at the mission leaders house for dinner and we just were watching it. He told us he wasn't going to turn it off and its hard not to watch it when they are just sitting right there.
I broke my credit card the other day, the mission one. I went to buy something and realized it was cracked where the magnet strip is. I am not sure how it happened but i will have to use some of my other money until they send me the new card. So, just make sure there is some money on there for me. Ii will have to get some food today, thank you.
We baptized most of the people we were teaching. Finding new people is always the hardest part cause once we start teaching them they know how much they need the gospel. But, finding people is always the challenge. We went to talk to this kid the other day who said that he wants to talk to missionaries. He turned 18 so now his dad can't say no. But he was smoking weed; lots of it. I found something out; Marijuana triggers migraine headaches... lol good to know.
Its been a good week here. I didn't get transferred again, so I am still in Brawley... and I am still with Blaine. Elder Gunnell got a new companion and he is fun. He is from Bountiful and worked right by where Brian lives. Pretty cool.
I love you. Have a good week.

There is about 10 missionaries that have mono... the kissing disease. Its been pretty bad... but its in San Diego. 2 of them went home for the recovery. And I hope I never have to do that... coming out 1 time was hard... 2 times would be extremely hard.
We were told that we couldn't give any advise to the ward here on how to better do things. They don't like to be told by 19 year old people that their is a better way to do things... so it has to come from the mission president... things are coming a lot slowly but surely. Hopefully they will start to go see people by them selves.
We actually didn't end up going to the temple cause President said it was too far of a drive so we will just have to go next transfer... we are only supposed to go every other transfer. So that will be something to do next transfer.
Mom, reptiles carry diseases? So do humans so I am not worried about it. I washed my hands so you don't have to worry about it at all :) The shed that the spider was on was about half the size of our camping shed. So it was still a big spider.
We had interviews... i think it was the shortest one yet... i was in there for about 1 minute... usually i am in there for about 1 minute and 30 seconds. Lol My interviews aren't very intense. But next transfer... we aren't going to have interviews or zone conference... it is just going to be 3 strait days of training... and then we are going to go out with the mission president or other leaders... probably from salt lake and be coached actually teaching people... sounds kinda scary
Being out here in California, I have learned to love how faithful the members in our ward are. It will be nice to be in that ward again. People here are very stubborn... and no one has a car so they can't really help people get to church. Hard stuff sometimes.
I would love to get letters from the girls in the ward... they were fun especially Chalese Johnson... we were best buds. I get letters from Bill and LaRae Parker every month and i make sure i write everyone back who writes me. It is fun to get mail.
I have played in The Primary here a little bit and do for priesthood every once in awhile... primary was the funnest to play though cause kids are so funny to hear sing.We are going to like 3 different houses for dinner so that will be a lot of food. There was about like 8 people who have asked to have us over for Thanksgiving... so we had to limit it to 3. Still too much. but whatever.
I would definitely play the new call of duty when I get home. Even if there is a new one out... I love those games! they are so fun. I know you don't like them cause you just shoot people, but its a fun game and I love all of the old ones too. So if you wanted to buy the game I wouldn't be against it lol.
Thanks for everything

Kevin told me he had jury duty and then told me about the new call of duty video game that is coming out tomorrow lol. Not that i didn't know it was coming out anyways lol. I still have all of the good info on video games and stuff like that.
I told Janel, i think when I get home I will be going to a lot more baseball, basketball, and football games. Not being able to go see any for 2 years, makes me really want to go to some. So you might have a lot of sports watching with me when I get home.
Today is not my p day because we are going to the temple again on Wednesday so i am just emailing. We also have interviews tomorrow. So that will be fun. Those are always good. The people who were supposed to be baptized just are gone. This week has been hard. We spent most of the week trying to find them again. They just leave and nobody knows where they are and the rest of their family don't like us so its hard for us to actually communicate with anyone to find out where they are. So this week has been kinda frustrating, but hopefully things will work out for them, cause they said they want to be baptized.
Last night though, there was a missionary fireside and a guy from San Diego came and spoke. He is a temple coordinator and he used to be a Methodist minister. He has a wicked cool conversion story. Then after he told his story we had a question and answer period and that was pretty cool. He is a good speaker. Funny and smart.
The ward here is supposed to be trying to see all of the less active members too... but it turned into the missionaries doing everything and the lame lame ward doing nothing. .. I am not very happy with this ward we are trying to work with. We told them about the baptism we were supposed to be having soon, and nobody wanted the people to be baptized. They were trying to give us all of these excuses why we should wait. The one that really made me mad was that they aren't on their feet and shouldn't be baptized till they are secure with their finances. WHATS THE POINT IN THAT? They are in a hard spot in life and the gospel is there to help them. Why postpone their salvation?! Angry face :# Yea OK i am done venting now :)
One of the best sections to really learn, in the preach my gospel, is the 4th chapter, I think. It talks about recognizing the spirit. If missionaries can get that chapter down, the rest of it comes a lot easier.
The health care guy for our mission is a doctor. And we have a nurse too. So Maybe they have both? I don't know what they do for medical stuff really? Except the San Diego mission is full of missionaries with health problems. So that might be why we have a real doctor? Everyone has a heart problem or had surgery within the last year. Every one says that, if they don't have anything wrong with their health, they will before they leave.
Everything is great!

Yea I have already been out for 4 months... pretty crazy. I AM THE COOLEST PERSON IN THE WORLD... that's how good i am doing lol :) just kidding but i am doing great.
Didn't have the baptism... hopefully next week, but not sure weren't able to get a hold of them very much this last week. They got really busy and very hard to contact. Their grandma had a heart surgery... that got in the way. And then they weren't able to be taught everything. But, they are still interested in being baptized, I think.
On Halloween, we just had to be in by dark... but we worked really hard until then and then for the rest of the night we played racquetball at the mission leaders house. I hurt my knee a little but not like bad i just hit it with the racquet... doesn't feel good. That was very very fun! I loved it! I didn't win very much but; I did win one game 2 on 1, me and elder Mendenhall against the guy who owned the court. He is really good. That day the guy who owns the court cooked us some tri tip sandwiches... which is the same cut of a cow as a sirloin steak... but i am not really sure.
That's what Mel said that Marley was about to be ready to crawl. Hopefully it will be soon. She looked really cute in the pictures looking into the mirror. Did Marley come right to you? lol you sound like you are having a great time being a grandma! A lady in the ward here said that the only reason you have kids is so you can have grandchildren lol funny stuff.
I don't think elder Johnson will be coming back... I have talked to him on the phone and I don't think that their is really any thought to come back right now. He got really close to his girlfriend right when he got home... so me and Blaine think that he could be married very shortly. He is a good kid though and will hopefully make good choices. Except his girlfriend isn't a member.... that's not a good choice. Makes things hard.
Well I am really good looking... just in case you were wondering. LOL
